Yesterday morning, the Oxford American — one of my favorite literary magazines — launched its Summer issue, featuring a short story by yours truly. “Saeed, or The Other One” is about coming home from a book event and finding my doppelgänger sitting on my couch.
“Something about being in his company—our company—had a way of immediately smoothing over rough edges as soon as I got to them. Just when I’d think, “Well, that was weird,” I’d think, “What was?”
Then, yesterday afternoon, I got a Google alert featuring a bit of news about my doppelgänger: Saeed Jones, a “career burglar” in Wales:
Obviously, I’m rooting for my doppelgänger. Tell me about yours. What do you think the Other You is doing out there?
