Also! I made this cake without an actual measuring cup. KNOW ME, the chaotic chef.

That looks delicious, this made me so happy.

I started baking in 2020 and I frequently say, "oooop. sieeeeesssss." But somehow, everything is still yummy when it comes out of the oven. It is very soothing. xo

This is by no means cooking advice, just an observation I have heard repeatedly uttered on "Chopped" by contestants who say they have anxiety issues or substance abuse issues and things like that. When everything in your mind/environment is chaos, focusing on a task (like in your case, mixing the cake ingredients, baking it and then frosting it) brings a measure of calm and focus and blots out everything else. It's why I do it, at least. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have a sign in my bathroom that says “cupcakes are muffins that believed in magic” and this made me think of that ...

Reading I've missed due to #IAMASCHOOLTEACHERELA12

I loved this post. I made this cake from scratch for my birthday in 2020, when I gave myself a birthday party with the cake my great-grandma made for me every year.

I love that you made this cake for you. You sounded so satisfied. I recognize that feeling nothing like it. When I made this cake for myself, I did what my grandma did. Have a few slices and put it in the freezer until the next time you want a slice. Making a cake takes away the cranky doesn't it? Applause.

Just catching up on some of your posts. Loved this one. "High functioning and a little cranky." Relatable. :)
