Legit. I have been feeling that rage as I answer a series of increasingly anxious questions about how a constitutional crisis will affect trans kids (like, WILL any governors stand up for them, will the National Guard actually turn out IF they did). Some of us know the stakes and have young people actually physically depending on us to protect them. Suburban liberals can shove their bracelets where their "just asking questions" resides. Be in solidarity with actions, or stay the hell away from me and my people.
May I ask what you mean by “just asking questions”? I 100% agree w/being in solidarity with actions - it’s what everyone should do. But I don’t know exactly what you mean by that phrase. So, without trying to be ironic or a pain in the ass, I am asking a question.
Sure. I am referring to the way the transphobia directed at kids over the past few years has been framed as concern in a transparently false way. Like, the questions they are "just asking" in the guise of caring about kids are right-wing lies about nonexistent risks.
It’s hard to have faith in anyone these days, not even some in our own tribe. But I have faith that we will write the truth and you always give me something to believe in. Good intentions don’t mean much right now. Actions are what county. Indeed, it was ever so.
It says a great deal about the hearts of those who wanted to hear and discuss poetry the week of such a gut wrenching triumph of hate & fear. Your heart as well Saeed. To choose to share art this week of all weeks was to choose goodness & light. To speak of creating instead of destroying, to share fellowship and warnings. Absolutely needed warnings. Thank you for watching out for them.
I was badly damaged years ago by men who would have fit in w/the hate & fear party as tightly as puzzle pieces snapping into place. Someone intervened before damage became death. I’ve never forgotten him, what he did, his rage at them, how he helped, the absolute, tender kindness he showed me.
When I see or hear of someone acting in a similar way - the kindness, the warning, the support - I am grateful beyond measure. Thank you for your actions Saeed, for your concern for those four beautiful brilliant black women. Thank you for your rage. Without it there is only apathy in the face of such hate, fear & evil. Take good care of yourself please. You are appreciated and needed.
Thank you for your words. This was needed and how I’ve been feeling. I do for me and mine if it helps the greater good wonderful but we is no longer my priority.
We was overrated anyway. All we got is Us.

Yeah, in my experience, the posture of "just asking questions" is a sibling of the devil's advocate.
Okay. I’ve had that happen to me on an entirely different issue & Nic is correct w/where the person can put it. Thank you for explaining.

Thank you for the reply & explanation Nic. I agree with you on where that false concern can go.
This is the post that pushed me to get a paid subscription. Thank you for all of your work, Saeed.
I’m pissing on graves.

All of this.
