Somehow, your insights about nature and change and the nature of change and her thoughts about hope as a "discipline" connected in my sluggish brain. For what it's worth.

That is a great quote! I do try to tell myself things seem so bad because our expectations for how they could be better are higher than they used to be. And gardening is such a hassle! Always happy to admire the gardens of people who are so much better at it than me.
