"I don't know what we're going to do." This is what I keep coming back to over and over again. I don't know what we're going to do. And yes, it does feel like the weather. And like...we have never been able to figure out how to control the weather. I don't want that to sound hopeless! I really don't. It's just....where I am at right now. (Thanks for giving words to this feeling I've had for so long.)

I’m right there with ya. I don’t want to sound hopeless either. But also, I hate lying.

But your barber doesn't know you are already packing heat: a collector's item CAESAR™, cold-forged in the misty mountains of Chihuahua, outfitted with a custom-fitted leash and harness for easy retrieval, and killer looks that can stop dead (ie, condescend) anything within a 20 m radius.

Every time somebody tells me I need a gun, I'm like no, I don't want to live in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, I want to live in a fucking civilization, thank you very much.

Last time my kids (12 &10) we’re at the barber, they said there was a cop in there too, and the cop and barber were talking about guns. The cop was talking about how he builds and sells ARs. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Why?!

Good god, Saeed, I know how we got here (from a non-American's outside perspective) but it still feels like a nightmare that I keep hoping we will all wake up from soon. It is disturbing to me on a soul-deep level that this is, as you put it, many people's 'weather'. Holding space for you, and for everyone experiencing this now mundane horror, from afar today.

I get it. I don’t like guns either, but I own, train frequently & carry. Permit holder. USCCA member. Very responsible firearms owner. I also live in Georgia, though, where I’ve been threatened by grown men in broad daylight in front of others who’ve said & done nothing. I’ve also had 4, 5 folks killed within a mile radius of me in the last 3 weeks. I can fight too, but most of the time they not tryna fight. Everybody in ATL (probably Georgia at large) carries. Ladies purses? Locked & loaded. I don’t want to. Please believe. But I have to. I don’t want to use it. Ever. But I will.

ETA: It’s actually a little shocking to me that that convo was shocking to you. I’m not gonna lie. But I also live in a state where you only need money & a 1-day fishing & wildlife permit to buy *any* firearm, and even the realtors, plumbers & contractors are carrying. It’s intense down here.
