I’ll be brief.
You get a day and a night.
One full day, one full night to pout, mope, whine, beg, plead, stomp, bellow.
(If you’re Black, you get to do this through the weekend.)
And then, we get back to work.
This life is why we are here. We wanted to be of use in a time of great need.
(Black people, no one is coming to save us. We are all we’ve got.)
Let it out. Let it all out.
We won’t have time for this later so let it all out now.
Thank you. My adhd ass needed a deadline for these feelings. You've been a light in all this.
Thank you for this. The Dorianne Laux poem you shared on Vibe Check ("In Any Event") has kept me going all these weeks, and it will continue to do so.
