I’m hooting and hollering this morning, y’all. I’m so excited to reveal the cover of THE PEOPLE’S PROJECT: Poems, Essays and Art for Looking Forward. This anthology of twenty-six writers is a community in book form. Maggie Smith and I have spent the last few months reaching out to the people we ourselves turn to for clarity and hope. My prayer for this book is in its pages we all will find maps, blueprints, and lodestars that guide us toward each other and toward the future we deserve.
You can pre-order THE PEOPLE’S PROJECT here. It comes out on September 9 and features original and selected work from Alexander Chee, Chase Strangio, Tiana Clark, Hala Alyan, Aubrey Hirsch, Imani Perry, Abi Maxwell, Victoria Chang, Koritha Mitchell, Jason Silverstein, Alice Wong, Mira Jacob, Aruni Kashyap, Sam Sax, Ashley C. Ford, Marlon James, Eula Biss, Randall Mann, Danez Smith, Ada Limon, Kiese Laymon, Joy Harjo, Jill Damatac, and Patricia Smith.
Buying that IMMEDIATELY. Among the many great names there one that stands out is Alice Wong. So glad disability is part of this!
Can't wait to read this! Bookshop's site is saying "unavailable" on the hardcover's click-to-preorder button... guessing this is a testament to the sheer volume of Saeed and Maggie devotees (hi!) overwhelming their system, but in case they need to fix a glitch, thought I'd mention it. :)
