Hello comrades,
As if it wasn’t perplexing enough as is living with Saeed, it’s February again which means that every time I do something he doesn’t like, he shrieks “NOT DURING BLACK HISTORY MONTH.”
Rip up some toilet paper in his bathroom in February and suddenly, it’s an affront to his ancestors. Poop in the hallway and he’ll glare at you like you don’t know the second verse of the Black National Anthem. (I know it! But I’m a dog! I can’t sing, even during February!) Also, can one of you explain to me why he keeps calling the new Paramore album “a Black History Month miracle”?
This week on the Vibe Check podcast, Saeed, Zach and Sam unleash all of their pent up rage about the Grammys simultaneously using Black artists to increase ratings while continuing to segregate categories. To be honest, I was skeptical at first about all the fuss, but then Sam explained how industry award shows mirror what happens everyday in all kinds of workplaces and… well, WOOF. Then the gurls discuss Governor Ron DeSantis’s war on public education in Florida. Saeed calls it “birtherism for books.” Also, Saeed’s recommendation for the week is cooking grits with smoked gouda. And I must say, I usually get a piece of gouda when he’s cooking this dish so I heartily support this recommendation. You can listen to the episode here.
Also, when you wake up on Monday morning, check your podcast feed for a special Super Bowl episode of Vibe Check. Apparently, it will be all about Rihanna’s Half-Time Show performance. And let’s pray she doesn’t perform “Lift Me Up” because I don’t have it in me to listen to Saeed complain about that song for another week. Life is hard enough as is.
Stay safe out there, folks.
Sincerely,
Caesar
Caesar sweetheart, remind your Saeed that every month is Black History Month!
As much as I hate Mondays...this one will be fun!
