Hello comrades,
When I woke him up this morning, Saeed cheerfully announced that we were having something called “a snow day.” Sounds nice enough.
Upon stepping outside, however, I learned yet again that poets are not to be trusted. This so-called “snow” is nothing but white supremacy on the ground: cold, inconvenient, slippery, and polluted. What a betrayal.
Anyway, this week on Vibe Check, Saeed and his protégés discuss the current economic mess that still somehow isn’t a recession. Maybe it’s a “rich-cession.” Also, the trio has some choice words for Todrick Hall and his poorly-rated new reality television show “The Real Friends of WeHo.” Saeed, Sam and Zach have kindly asked me to mention that based on viewer data for the show’s premiere, more people listen to Vibe Check each week… by a sizable margin.
And Saeed recommends the book he’s reading now: Black Women Writers at Work edited by Claudia Tate.
Stay safe out there, y’all.
